The Personal Stories Behind Impact Theory's Mindset Change – Jared and Will – Impact Theory

Today we launched the IT! store with new merchandise and designs. So we went around the Impact house and asked the team about what it means to rock their shirts and the personal narratives it supports. Let’s find out exactly what makes our team such a strong community of #Impactivists.

Jared “Agent Smith:”

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

The practice of constructing a worldview, from The Nerdwriter Evan Pushcak’s episode, has really stayed with me over the last few months. The concept was so simple, yet so foundational. Possessing a worldview means having a system unique to you that allows you to filter incoming information to decide whether it has value in your life. It’s not a particularly glamorous or exciting stop on the road to greatness, but it’s absolutely foundational to creating true and lasting impact. Because without a deep understanding of the world and our place in it, how do we take action?

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

My IT! shirt is a symbol of positive change. A reminder to myself and to others that we are all part of a constantly evolving, chaotic, yet beautiful world that demands our attention, our presence and our sustained effort toward making it a better place. Whether that impact is realized through small gestures–a smile or act of kindness–or grander visions is less important than the daily practice of impact itself.

Cindy “The Voice:”

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

Jessica O. Matthews probably had the biggest impact on me when it comes to her narrative. It was almost this surreal thing where I saw, thematically, so many shared experiences that shaped her that had somehow already shaped me. It was her confidence and assuredness in the face of everything life was throwing at her in a space that may not necessarily have wanted her that was inspiring to watch.

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

I’m actually really weird about T-shirts. I’m particular about the style and fit of my wardrobe and most T-shirts I own are reserved for sleeping. So wearing an impact theory T-shirt is really about being part of a team, this team. It’s how I show my support for the vision of this brand.

Chase:The Personal Stories Behind Impact Theory's Mindset Change – Chase – Impact Theory

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

The most empowering narrative that I have come across at Impact Theory is the idea of leveraging suffering as a tool for personal development. Many successful people in different disciplines (sports, business, LIFE) talk about how suffering helped them grow as a person. But in mainstream motivation and self-help talks, books etc; suffering is not talked about as a tool for growth, rather something people mention that can be avoided in order to improve your life. When in fact suffering is the most powerful way to leverage behavior in the most raw, painful and beautiful way possible. THE WAY OUT IS THROUGH.

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

Wearing my Impact Theory shirt reminds me just how much of a mental badass I am. Empowering myself from a mindset that was at the lowest of low, to earning an internship at a powerful, inspiring company here at Impact Theory. This shirt represents the grind of self discovery, intellectual curiosity and the beautiful green grass on the other side of a fixed mindset.

Molly:

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

The most empowering narrative shared so far on Impact Theory is the concept that “what you tell yourself matters.” I believe that self talk is extremely powerful. If you choose to believe in yourself and your abilities, you become limitless.

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

IT T-shirt is a tangible way that I can remind myself of this truth. It’s a simple way to keep focused on both short term and long term goals.

Lisa:

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

Jessica O. Matthews for sure! Her message about embracing who you are to your core really stayed with me. In everything that I do, I make sure to always be my authentic self in representing who I am, the communities I cherish and fight for, along with the causes that matter to me most.

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

Rocking my IT! t-shirt is more like a narrative-hack for me. For one, without saying a word, It lets others know the life fundamentals and beliefs I find most valuable. And second, It keeps me accountable to the more empowering mindset I’ve built.

Will:

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

“It is all your fault”. At first when Tom said this phrase in an interview, I thought, “Com’on Tom, how is that suppose to help me in any way; blaming myself for everything?” But once he explained what made that statement so liberating, it completely changed my mindset. I was like “WOOOOWWW. Nothing can stop me but my limiting beliefs. I am in control of everything. I have the power to make sh*t happen.” If you’re never gonna watch another Impact Theory video, take this message with you.

Ibraheem:

From all the guest interviews we’ve done, what’s been the most empowering narrative that’s changed your mindset?

Gary Vaynerchuk’s had the most empowering narrative I learned from. He taught me the importance of putting in more work than anyone else, to play the long game, and to become the best at what you love to do. Like him, I also want to build the biggest building in town ever using positivity, and become a rock star while doing it so I can inspire millions of others to do the same.

And how does rocking your IT! T-shirt help support that?

Wearing my IT! T-shirt re-enforces my growth mindset and belief that, with enough focused effort and persistence, I can become the man I envision myself as.
